Simple, intuitive function. A modern expression of durability, stability, and comfort geared towards the athlete looking for a minimal fit and feel. Bringing them closer to their environment and removing unnecessary layers was the goal with this expansion of Under Armour’s Tribase assortment.
With the Tribase Thrive 2, the goal was to provide the athlete with a stable, protective experience while focusing on the layers to provide the protection necessary with as least layers as possible. The athlete’s movement was the inspiration behind the purpose of this model. Reducing layers in the forefoot allows for a more natural foot movement, allowing for more transition of power and energy.
To deliver this functional story to the athlete, the material selection was a key component of the design process. Ensuring the performance benefits of the athlete are met, but picking a functionally efficient material to meet all design goals.
Given the innate durability and structure of ripstop textile, and the ability to perforate for breathability, this material made for a minimal construction in the forefoot.
